Community Education Awards

AT BOON LAY CCC, MOUNTBATTEN CCC & PUNGGOL WEST CCC

Since June 2013, the Foundation has been working with CCCs to establish the Lim Hoon Foundation Community Education Awards (LHF-CEA). The objective of the LHF-CEA is to support, strengthen and encourage all-rounded achievement of students who come from challenging backgrounds. This is consistent with the Foundation's general mission to empower those in the "sandwiched" group of students. The Foundation will continue to work with the CCCs and their grassroots leaders to grow and enhance this programme to benefit more students.

The Mountbatten LHF-CEA started with 62 recipients in 2015, and since then, the Foundation has given out approximately 400 awards and has been receiving positive responses from the residents.

Dyslexia Association of Singapore - 360° pact

The Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) and the Foundation launched the DAS 360° Pact to raise awareness and provide pivotal support for students with dyslexia and other co-occurring learning difficulties in Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). As individuals with dyslexia process information and learn differently, the programme aims to augment traditional support structures in IHLs to maximise chances for academic and non-academic success.

The programme aims to augment traditional support structures in IHLs to maximise chances for academic and non-academic success.

The Foundation donated S$280,100 to fund the implementation of various programmes for three years from 2021 to 2024. The sum would benefit about 100 students with dyslexia from low-income families and also fund local research such as conducting a local study looking into the prevalence rate of dyslexia in Singapore and how to support post-secondary students with dyslexia.
